Marta Mitchell will tell you she’s glad her sons Mark and Alan left their hometown of Greensboro to find their own way. “We didn’t know where they were going to end up, but the opportunities were there to move on to bigger and better things.” Mark and Alan graduated Greensboro Day School and moved away to Appalachian State University. From there they found their way to more education, exciting careers, and eventually families of their own. After a decade of seeing where life could take them, they found life calling them back to Greensboro. Mark now works in the family business at MM Interior Design Group, stepping into his father’s footsteps. Alan moved back to open Google’s Durham office and then transitioned into a Triad marketing firm. Alan explains how the move back made sense for his growing family: “Greensboro is doing what it’s always done really well – looking after people with families and people who value their personal life and quality of life.”
