Sometimes, home has a way of calling you back at just the right moment.
For Elizabeth Belk, that moment came after several years of living in Los Angeles with her husband, Rob. The West Coast had its perks — sunshine, career growth, and new adventures — but once they welcomed their son, everything shifted. With remote work becoming the norm and the realities of parenting far from family setting in, the couple started asking different questions about what life could look like.
Elizabeth grew up in Greensboro and graduated from Greensboro Day School before heading to UNC-Chapel Hill. She didn’t meet Rob (a Charlotte native) until a blind date set up by Rob’s mom’s friend — one that changed both their trajectories. At the time, Elizabeth was running her retail business in Raleigh and Rob was at Duke’s business school. From there, life took them to California… but eventually, it brought them back to North Carolina with a baby in tow and a new vision for what they wanted life to feel like. Now living in Fisher Park, they’re surrounded by family, walking to local breweries, and making room — literally and figuratively — for what’s next, including their third child on the way. Elizabeth leads her family’s company, If It’s Paper, finding purpose and possibility in growing something meaningful both at work and at home.
