After years away, Alex Buffington is back in Greensboro — and he’s not easing in.

Now serving as Vice President of Construction Operations at Whitewood Construction, Alex brings with him the momentum of years spent in Charlotte’s fast-paced building industry. His return marks a full-circle moment: Alex began his career with Whitewood’s partner company, Ardmore Residential, as a summer intern back in 2013 and continued with the team through college. After graduation, he accepted a full-time offer and started building his future — quite literally.

In Charlotte, he sharpened his skills, led high-pressure projects, and grew into a leadership role. But when the opportunity came to return to the place where his professional story began, it was an easy decision. “The hiatus is over,” he says. “And I’m glad to be back.”

Now living in New Irving Park with his girlfriend, Sarah, Alex is rediscovering everything that makes Greensboro feel like home — strong community, short commutes, and the chance to shape something lasting.
