Sara Beth Verm didn’t just return to Greensboro — she came back with intention and clarity.
After growing up here, graduating from Northwest Guilford High School, and heading to Davidson College, Sara Beth spent over two decades living and working in other cities. But when the pandemic reshaped priorities for so many families, she and her husband made a decision rooted in values: they came home.
“We wanted to be near extended family, and we appreciated all that Greensboro offers,” she says. “The reasonable cost of living, the climate, minimal traffic — it all adds up to a quality of life we couldn’t find elsewhere.”
Boomerang Greensboro helped them get settled — even down to finding a cello teacher for her daughter. It was the kind of small but meaningful support that made the transition feel personal.
Now, Sara Beth lives within walking distance of her children’s schools, enjoys a flexible remote work life, and spends more time with family — without the stress, crime, or chaos of a bigger city.
“Greensboro offers just the right balance of everything we need and want,” she says. “And I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.”
From the cultural perks of the Tanger Center to the quiet ease of free parks and greenways, she sees the city through a refreshed lens. And she’s not alone. “We were immediately welcomed into a rich and vibrant community. The schools are strong. The neighbors are friendly. It’s a treasure.”
