Olivia Chasse Helseth grew up in the Westerwood neighborhood and attended Saint Pius X Elementary School, Kiser Middle School and Grimsley High School. Olivia then ventured to Washington D.C. and attended Catholic University for her B.S.N. After 5 years working at Children’s National Medical Center in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU she moved to New York City. There she attended Columbia University, completing a Master’s of Nursing Anesthesia. Olivia met her husband Peter, an environmental and civil engineer, in New York and dreamed about starting a family in the city. She envisioned being a big city mom; balancing a thriving career, and exploring the city with a baby in tow.
However, when the COVID-19 pandemic began two months after their son was born, Olivia and Peter found their dreams changed to a vision that included raising their son closer to family, and enjoying a smaller city, still full of things to do. Olivia, Peter, baby Hudson, and their English bully Zucc moved to Greensboro in August 2020. Olivia started a job as a CRNA with Cone Health, and Peter was able to keep working remotely with an engineering firm in New York.
Olivia and Peter are happy to be putting down their roots in Sunset Hills and are excited to finish renovations in their home with the help of local contractors and designers. They are looking forward to the next chapter of their lives in Greensboro, including being a part of the city’s growth. They are most excited about seeing downtown grow with new artistic venues, restaurants, breweries and small businesses. But at the heart of their move is Olivia’s joy at being able to raise her son as a member of her progressive and diverse hometown.
